  • How do I use the application?

    After you download the app, your music library will be synced from iTunes, and any additional purchases from the iTunes store will automatically be added to Listen.

    The application is controlled with swipe gestures. You can swipe left or right to switch to the previous or the next song respectively. Swiping down brings up the menu where you can select an album playlist or radio, and by swiping up, you can add the current song to favorites, set Listen to shuffle mode, repeat or navigate back the the music selection menu.

  • How is Listen different from other music players?

    It’s a simpler way to listen to music. Thanks to gesture-based controls, you can listen on the go without focusing your attention on the player.

  • What are the system requirements for Listen?

    Listen is compatible with iPods, iPhones and iPads starting from iOS 8, but for the best performance, newer devices running iOS 9 are recommended.

  • How do you use online radio in Listen?

    Launch Listen and swipe down. This will give you a menu with different genres. After you choose a genre, you will see a list of different radio stations. You can select a radio station and start listening.

    After you have selected a radio station, you can can quickly switch to the next or previous one on the list by swiping right or left, just like you switch between songs. You can add a radio station to your favorites by holding down your finger on that station’s icon and dragging it into the heart icon. You can also go back to selecting the genre by dragging the radio station icon down.

  • How can i return to the Listen tutorial?

    The first time you launch Listen on your device, a tutorial opens and shows you how to use the app. If you would like to return to this tutorial, you can do so by opening the Settings in Listen and tapping Show Tutorial.

  • How do you sort by Albums or Artists?

    You can view your music by playlists, albums, or artists by tapping on the corresponding icons at the top of your music library.

  • How do I open preferences in Listen?

    To open preferences, tap on the gear icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

  • How do I disable automatic screen lock?

    Listen can override the default settings and prevent a phone from locking, which may be handy  when you’re using it in your car, for example. To disable automatic screen lock, switch off the “Disable Auto-Lock” option in Settings.

  • How do you search by songs or radio stations?

    Search is available by either swiping down in Albums/Playlists/Radio screens, or by pressing the magnifying glass icon in the same screens.

  • How do I add or manage my playlists and favorites?

    The playlists displayed in Listen can’t be directly modified within the app itself, as Listen only syncs the playlists of your default music app. Therefore, in order to modify your playlists in Listen, modify the playlists your default music app.

  • Why does my music still play even when I’ve closed Listen app?

    This happens because Listen does not feature its own playback engine and controls the default engine instead. The music will continue to play when the user to force close the app or when Listen crashes, as the playback process runs separately.

    This gives us full compatibility with Airplay, Control Center menu (see the controls on the screenshot below), and a variety of accessories like headsets with remote controls.
