What is Hibernation?

Hibernation, true to it’s name is a unique way to freeze your current working conditions on your windows machine for long periods of time. As opposed to sleep mode which uses minimal power to hold your working state on temporary RAM memory for a quick boot up, hibernation saves the working state to the hard disc and then completely turns off the computer. This mode draws no power and therefore it is ideal for laptops which have a limited power source and can't go into sleep mode for long periods of time or for energy efficient desktop users.

This can be very useful if you are running processes that you don't want to exit but you would like to leave your computer for an extended period of time. This mode will help you save electricity and help you preserve the life of your computer without shutting down. However, if you don’t use this feature it is taking up a lot of space on your computer.

In this case users can use the hibernation module of CleanMyPC to remove this hibernation file and save a large amount of space. Should a user decide that they need hibernation mode on their PC they can re-enable it using the same module.
