Is CleanMyMac 3 compatible with OS X 10.11 El Capitan? 
A:

Currently, CleanMyMac 3 is not compatible with the latest OS X 10.11 El Capitan as it is in Developer Preview status. Apple has recently released this operating system and we haven't had the chance to test it yet.

Please rest assured that our developers are aware of this, and that they are working on an update. In near future, you’ll be able to use CleanMyMac 3 on OS X 10.11 El Capitan. Please note that while this version of Mac OS X is in Developer Prieview or Beta Status, all cleaning should be preformed at your own risk.

How to download and install CleanMyMac 3? 
A:

To download CleanMyMac 3 please visit our MacPaw website and click the Download CleanMyMac 3 button on the CleanMyMac 3 page. After you will be prompted to save the download file. After your download is complete you will be asked to drag the app into the applications folder.

After you have done this CleanMyMac 3 is ready to use.

How to upgrade to CleanMyMac 3 multiple licenses?
A:

Multiple licenses are available at a discounted rate. You can either visit our store and use the "Upgrade your License" feature, or email our Support Team for help with your upgrade.

What are CleanMyMac 3 system requirements and compatibility?
A:

CleanMyMac 3 requires OS X 10.8 or higher and around 50 MB of free space to operate. If you haven’t upgraded your Mac to OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, you should take a look at CleanMyMac Classic! It’s designed for Macs as old as OS X 10.4 and can clean up outdated caches, logs, system junk, application leftovers and other trash on your Mac.

What are the limitations of CleanMyMac 3 Trial version?
A:

The trial version of CleanMyMac 3 scans your Mac entirely, but only allows you to clean up to 500 MB of unnecessary files on your Mac. Also the trial allows you to use 3 Maintenance utilities.

How do I upgrade to CleanMyMac 3?
A:

To upgrade to CleanMyMac 3 you need to click here and go to proceed to the MacPaw Store. At the bottom of the Store there is a button for users who have a previous version of CleanMyMac and would like to upgrade to CleanMyMac 3.  

Click Upgrade Now button and then you will be prompted to enter your email into the following screen. After you have entered your email you should click the verify button and choose the type of license you will purchase. After you choose your license you can proceed to checkout where your upgrade discount will be applied.

Is it safe to use CleanMyMac 3?
A:

CleanMyMac 3 is different from other cleaners because of its simplicity and safety. CleanMyMac 3 has a smart cleaning Safety Database that has been regularly updated for the past 6 years. If you would like to read more about what makes CleanMyMac 3 safe click here.

How exactly does iPhoto Junk work?
A:

The iPhoto Junk module scans your iPhoto library for invisible versions of files that were automatically or manually modified. For instance, if you imported a photo from your camera and then rotated and cropped it, iPhoto will keep an unrotated, uncropped copy of it as a backup. You can remove these unnecessary copies to significantly decrease the size of your iPhoto library!

iPhoto Junk supports iPhoto '11 (version 9+) only.

What is the CleanMyMac 3 Menu tool?

The CleanMyMac Menu allows access to the most important parts of CleanMyMac and also monitors your Mac’s health. You can launch CleanMyMac, free up RAM, get hardware notifications, and more with the CleanMyMac Menu — Read more about it here.

What if I lost my activation number?

What if my activation number doesn’t work?
A:

First, check to make sure that you entered your activation number correctly — maybe you’ve accidentally copy & pasted it with spaces or other invisible symbols. If you lost, or are unable to find your Activation Number in your email inbox, you can take advantage of our License Retrieval feature.

I want to buy another copy of CleanMyMac 3. What can I do?

If you’re looking to buy a second copy of CleanMyMac 3, we’ve got great news for you: your second CleanMyMac 3 purchase will be 30% off. Go to the MacPaw Store, scroll to the bottom of the page, click “confirming,” and then enter the email address you used to register/purchase your first copy of CleanMyMac 3. What is MacPaw's Upgrade Policy for existing customers?

We would love to give out free upgrades for everything, however, we cannot afford to do so. We put a lot of time, effort, and resources into each and every one of our softwares and that by purchasing upgrades, you keep MacPaw going. So, short version: “Unfortunately, no.” Long version: “Thank you from all us here at MacPaw.”

Can I return my CleanMyMac 3 license and get my money back?

What if I want to activate my copy of CleanMyMac on another Mac?
A:

CleanMyMac is licensed per computer, and a single license can only be used for one Mac at one time. If you don't have a multiple Mac license activation number, your activation number can only be used to activate one copy of CleanMyMac at a time. If you wish to upgrade your single license version to multiple Mac license you can contact Customer Support

To transfer your license to a different Mac you must first deactivate CleanMyMac on the current Mac.

To do this please select the Activation Info window that is available from Main Menu and choose the Deactivate option.

It is very important to successfully deactivate CleanMyMac before uninstalling it, otherwise you will not be able to successfully install CleanMyMac on another Mac.

If you encounter problems deactivating and reactivating your license please contact our Customer Support for assistance. After CleanMyMac has been deactivated it can be installed and activated on the Mac of your choice with your original activation number.

Q:
What do i do with CleanMyMac 2 after I have installed CleanMyMac 3?
A:

You can use CleanMyMac 3 to uninstall CleanMyMac 2 from your Mac. In order to remove CleanMyMac 2, you need to open up the CleanMyMac 3 app and open up the uninstaller module.

From here you can select CleanMyMac 2 from the list of applications and then click on the uninstall button at the bottom of the screen. If you would like help uninstalling CleanMyMac 2 please contact our Customer Support team via this link.

Where did CleanMyMac 2 go?

If you have noticed that the CleanMyMac 2 download can no longer be found on our site, its because we have replaced it with CleanMyMac 3. We truly loved the CleanMyMac 2 app but, we believe that CleanMyMac 3 is so much better. 

For all users who would like to continue using CleanMyMac 2 the FAQ and Knowledge Base sections about CleanMyMac 2 will always remain available on the MacPaw website.  

We will also always continue to provide support for the users who have decided to keep using CleanMyMac 2, but in order to keep improving the services and products we provide to the Mac community, only CleanMymac 3 will be available for download.
