The past few years have seen an explosion of AI tools, from smarter help bots to AI agents. As AI redefines workflows across the world, people now expect more from their devices. Instead of navigating complex software to complete certain tasks, users can simply type their task into the AI and receive an output in seconds.

This has dramatically changed human-computer interaction, and it’s only the beginning of this era. AI and software will merge closer together to offer users an even more personalized and holistic digital experience.

In line with this, MacPaw is exploring new approaches to software by releasing single-focused apps. Designed to tackle specific tasks, these apps will leverage AI capabilities to deliver a solution instantly – reducing the need to navigate through multiple steps in complex software. These apps will combine traditional software with innovative AI – offering users a hybrid approach to interact with and use apps.

"AI has rewritten the math of what a small team can build,” said Oleksandr Tatarchuk, Head of Product Management at MacPaw. “A project that once required a long roadmap can now be shipped by a handful of people in just a few weeks. By launching focused, one-use-case apps, we are discovering high-value workflows. We’re not just building apps; we’re defining the MacPaw ecosystem skillset of the future with products that earn their place based on real user demand."

Ready-to-deploy AI apps

These one-use-case apps have been created based on a number of recurrent, high-demand skills – including folder organization, content copying and pasting, and managing AI models – and will be evaluated on a variety of metrics to assess their usefulness to users. These factors include market size and signals, problem size and frequency, ecosystem fit, customer feedback, and more. Those that users find helpful will be integrated into Eney or the wider MacPaw ecosystem, while others that don’t fit users’ needs will be discontinued to focus on what users truly need.

We encourage users to give these apps a try and share their feedback openly, enabling them to be a part of shaping the future of the ecosystem. Any changes to apps will be clearly communicated to users to ensure transparency.

Given the nature of AI, these apps serve as experiments to evaluate functionality and fit. This means they’ll be built and deployed much quicker than traditional software. Despite this, apps will still go through the same legal, security, and privacy checks, ensuring users can trust them. By streamlining the app development and deployment process, MacPaw hopes to quickly evaluate the usefulness and value of the app before devoting countless hours and resources to a product that may not satisfy users.

After a period of 2-3 months, MacPaw will share the results, including what we’ve learned and our takeaways, with our community and the broader public.
