CleanMyMac X is ending support for earlier macOS versions

With every new macOS operating system coming out, Apple stops supporting older versions. CleanMyMac is no exception…

We get that it might be disappointing for those of you with older Macs or those who enjoy the solidity of older systems without fancy features, performance issues, and bugs. But it’s the only way to perfect our software that helps preserve and enhance your seamless Mac experience.

As of today, CleanMyMac X fully supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra and newer, including the latest Ventura. Here’s the list of macOS editions that run the latest version of CleanMyMac X with all its features:

  • Sonoma (14)
  • Ventura (13)
  • Monterey (12)
  • Big Sur (11)
  • Catalina (10.15)
  • Mojave (10.14)
  • High Sierra (10.13)

Going forward, CleanMyMac X is limiting support and will not be updated on operating systems older than the ones on this list. So if you're using a Mac that’s not running on the macOS mentioned above, read on.

Which macOS CleanMyMac X no longer supports?

From now on, CleanMyMac X will stop receiving regular updates for macOS 10.10-10.12. But the good news is that Malware Database will still be regularly updated to detect viruses and malware on your Mac (within Malware Removal and real-time malware monitor in CleanMyMac X Menu.)

Why is CleanMyMac X ending support for older OS versions?

As we’ve mentioned, Apple doesn’t support older OS X versions. That means they no longer receive security updates, making it impossible for us to guarantee the stable performance of our application on unsupported systems. The other reason is that older macOS have certain technical restrictions that don’t allow us to add new features available in more recent versions.

And here’s why we believe that ending support for outdated macOS will allow us to be more flexible in developing richer Mac-enhancing functionality and supporting future CleanMyMac X releases.

What does it mean for your Mac?

CleanMyMac X will continue working on macOS 10.13 High Sierra and newer versions, but your Mac will not receive new features or functionality updates if you have an older version. Still, we promise to provide a stable CleanMyMac X build with Malware Database updates to protect your Mac from threats. And, of course, you can always rely on our Customer Support for any earlier version of CleanMyMac X.

Also, please note that subscription plans remain valid and will be renewed after the current one expires.

Bottom line: Since older operating systems receive no security or software updates from Apple, we encourage you to upgrade your Mac to one of the supported versions. This way, you’ll be able to protect your Mac and data. And the cherry on top is that you get access to a myriad of cool features that smooth and stabilize the performance of your applications.
