I can't find where to enter my activation details

Can't find where to provide your activation details in CleanMyMac X from the App Store? You might be using the wrong Apple ID on your Mac. Or, if you purchased CleanMyMac X on the MacPaw Store, you need to download the app from there. Find details in this article.

What's wrong?

You get CleanMyMac X from the App Store and want to activate the app using a subscription plan you purchased earlier. However, when you click Unlock Full Version in CleanMyMac X, you see the window suggesting you start a free trial or buy a plan. Clicking Restore Purchase doesn't help. There's no place where you can enter your email or activation code either.

Solution 1: Make sure to use the relevant Apple ID

First, check if you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase CleanMyMac X. You might just be using the wrong Apple ID. To see if that's the case, follow these steps:

  1. Delete CleanMyMac X you got with the wrong Apple ID. See how in the macOS user guide.
  2. Sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase CleanMyMac X.
  3. Install CleanMyMac X and open it.
  4. If you still see the Unlock Full Version button, click it, then click Restore Purchase.

If Unlock Full Version is no longer there, then the app is activated. Great! We hope you enjoy all the features of CleanMyMac X.

Solution 2: Try the version of CleanMyMac X from the MacPaw Store

If the above fix didn't work, then you probably bought your CleanMyMac X plan on the MacPaw Store and have a MacPaw Account. The CleanMyMac X versions from the MacPaw Store and the App Store differ slightly, and their activation details aren't the same either. So, do the following:

  1. Delete CleanMyMac X downloaded from the App Store. See how in the macOS user guide.
  2. Download CleanMyMac X from MacPaw.com and install it.
  3. Open CleanMyMac X and click Unlock Full Version, then click Activate Now.
  4. Enter the email address you used to purchase your CleanMyMac X plan and click Next.
If you have an activation code for CleanMyMac X, use it instead of an email address.
  5. Enter the password to your MacPaw Account and click Sign In. (If you don't remember your password, click Forgot Password? to create a new one.)
Afterward, you may also be prompted to select a device to replace. It happens if you already have an activated copy of CleanMyMac X on another Mac. Replacing a device means you withdraw activation from CleanMyMac X on another Mac and apply this activation on your current computer. The steps are easy: in the drop-down menu, choose the Mac on which you want to deactivate CleanMyMac X, then click Next.
