Manage application permissions
(Updated: )Some apps may require special access privileges to function properly or provide additional features. These privileges, known as "application permissions", can include access to your contacts, screen recording, camera, microphone, files, folders, photos, and more. For example, CleanMyMac requests Full Disk Access to detect and remove more unneeded items from your Mac.
Trusted apps typically request only necessary permissions, but you can choose to disable any that you feel are unnecessary. If you're concerned about an app's safety, be cautious when granting permissions, and remember that you can always revoke them with CleanMyMac.
To review and manage app permissions:
In CleanMyMac, click Protection in the sidebar.
Click Scan to begin, and wait for the results.
To rescan, click Start Over on the upper left, confirm, and click Scan again.
Review permissions:
Permissions that CleanMyMac recommends addressing quickly (such as camera and microphone access or recently granted permissions) appear in tiles.
Click Review to view permission details and select permissions you want to revoke.
After reviewing, click Revoke to disable selected permissions.
To view and manage all app permissions in detail, click the button above the tiles (Review Found Threats, or Manage Privacy Items, or whichever is shown), then select the Application Permissions category.
After reviewing, click Revoke to disable the selected permissions.
When reviewing app permission details, you can:
View permission groups and see how many apps have access to those permissions.
Select individual permissions or all permissions for revocation.
Reveal an app in Finder, get app info, or take a quick look at an app.
For this, right-click an app and choose the desired action.
