Update CleanMyMac

(Updated: )

An outdated app can miss important fixes, security improvements, and new features. How you update CleanMyMac depends on the edition you use: the MacPaw Store edition can update itself automatically, while Setapp and the App Store update it through their own settings.

MacPaw Store edition

In the MacPaw Store edition, CleanMyMac checks for updates and installs them on its own, but you can also check manually whenever you want.

Automatic updates are handled by the Updater, a background item that checks for new versions and installs them.

To turn automatic updates on or off in the MacPaw Store edition of CleanMyMac:

  1. Open CleanMyMac Settings.

  2. On the General tab, select or deselect the checkbox "Automatically keep CleanMyMac up to date".

    • If selected, CleanMyMac checks for updates every six hours.

    • If deselected, you need to check for updates manually.

Setapp edition

In Setapp, updates for all apps including CleanMyMac are handled in one place — Setapp settings.

App Store edition

For the App Store edition of CleanMyMac, you can manage updates through the App Store settings.
