CleanMyMac Updater
(Updated: )To keep CleanMyMac reliable, compatible with macOS updates, and equipped with the latest improvements, the app periodically checks for new versions in the background. This is handled by CleanMyMac Updater — a lightweight background item that downloads and installs CleanMyMac updates automatically, so you receive the latest features, fixes, compatibility improvements, and security updates without manual checks.
The Updater isn't available in the App Store and Setapp editions of CleanMyMac. To learn how CleanMyMac is updated in those editions, refer to Update CleanMyMac.
By default, the Updater wakes up every six hours to check whether a new version of CleanMyMac has been released. If an update is available, it downloads the update automatically in the background. If no updates are found, the Updater exits until the next scheduled check.
For the Updater to work, allow CleanMyMac background items in macOS and turn on automatic updates in CleanMyMac Settings. If either is off, CleanMyMac can't update automatically, and you need to check for updates manually.
The Updater works silently in the background and has little impact on performance.
