Job Description Icon

We’re looking for a Business Development Professional to join the team behind Setapp, MacPaw’s subscription-based app service for macOS, iOS and web.

Setapp is a curated marketplace that helps users discover and use handpicked high-quality applications while providing developers with a sustainable revenue model and access to a broader audience.

As a Business Development Professional, you’ll help grow Setapp’s app marketplace by finding and onboarding new developer partners. You’ll work with both inbound requests and your own outbound outreach, run demos that explain Setapp’s value to developers, and guide them through the initial stages of onboarding. You’ll join a small, versatile team, connect with developers from around the world, and help bring innovative apps and emerging technologies to Setapp.

In this role, you will:
  • Manage vendor acquisition processes – from sourcing and qualification to partner presentations, negotiations, and initial onboarding.
  • Identify gaps in Setapp’s app categories, conduct market research, and prioritize potential partners based on market demand, product quality, and business potential.
  • Manage inbound requests from app developers, evaluate potential apps for Setapp, and explore opportunities to distribute their apps through the platform.
  • Develop and execute targeted outbound campaigns via email and LinkedIn to engage prospective app developers.
  • Conduct partner presentations and demos, clearly communicating Setapp’s value proposition and addressing potential concerns.
  • Build strong relationships with developer partners, identify opportunities for collaboration, and proactively address potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product, Engineering) to ensure smooth partner onboarding and successful integrations.
  • Track acquisition activities, analyze outreach performance, and identify opportunities to improve processes and results.
  • Maintain accurate partner records, agreements, and performance metrics in internal systems.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve research, prospecting, outreach, and market analysis.
  • Share partnership insights and best practices with the team.

Skills you’ll need to bring:
  • Experience in B2B business development, partnerships, or developer-facing sales
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to independently identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential partners.
  • Hands-on experience building and executing cold outreach campaigns via email and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate product value and address objections.
  • Strong technical curiosity and the ability to quickly understand product documentation, grasp technical concepts, and explain them clearly to developers.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate workflows, build useful solutions, and improve day-to-day efficiency.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset, with the ability to take ownership, navigate ambiguity, and achieve partner acquisition targets.
  • Advanced English – confident in written and verbal communication, including partner outreach, presentations, and negotiations.

As a plus:
  • Familiarity with the Mac/iOS app ecosystem, SaaS marketplaces, or app monetization models (subscription, one-time purchase, freemium).
  • Experience working with developer communities or developer-focused products.
  • Background in vendor onboarding or partnership management.
