If the video file has a high definition resolution (4K or 1080p), you can make smaller the file size in QuickTime Player by reducing the resolution. Follow the instructions below:

1. Control-click the file in the Finder and choose Open In > QuickTime Player.
2. Click the File menu and then Export As.
3. Choose a resolution lower than the file’s current resolution. Give the file a name, and choose where to save it.
