Subscription tax details

(Updated: )

When you subscribe to a CleanMyMac Business plan, we're required to charge and report applicable taxes on your purchase. The most common types are Sales Tax in the US, Value Added Tax (VAT), or Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the EU and other countries.

Overview

We work with Paddle, our payment provider partner, to handle tax calculation and reporting on our behalf. For details, find out how Paddle handles taxes.

For CleanMyMac Business, we use tax-inclusive pricing. This means the price you get and pay already includes any applicable taxes. They're automatically calculated and processed during payment—no extra steps or manual calculations are needed.

If you want to know how much tax is included in the price, check this list by Paddle.

Reverse charge

A reverse charge shifts the responsibility for paying Sales Tax or VAT from the seller to the buyer. Instead of the seller adding tax to the price, the buyer calculates and reports it directly to their local tax authority.

This process is often used in cross-border transactions or certain business-to-business purchases. It helps simplify tax collection for the seller and ensures the buyer pays the correct tax in their own country.

For more details, read Understanding Reverse Charge by Paddle.

As a company using CleanMyMac Business, you may be able to apply the VAT reverse charge to avoid double taxation. To do this, enter your VAT ID (also called a VAT number) in the payment details. (To check the correct VAT ID format in your country, refer to this list by Paddle.)

Important

Once you've entered your payment details, including your VAT ID, and made your first payment, you won't be able to change them yourself. To update these details, contact our Support Team.

Tax exemption

A Sales Tax or VAT exemption means you don't have to pay these taxes when buying certain products or services. This usually applies if you meet specific legal or business requirements—such as being a registered non-profit, reseller, or qualifying business.

Think of it as a tax "free pass" granted by law. You're not skipping the tax illegally—you're officially allowed not to pay it because you meet the criteria set by the government.

Direct bank transfers

If your CleanMyMac Business subscription fee is more than $1,500, you can pay by direct bank transfer using an invoice. To request an invoice, contact our Sales Team.
