Connect OneDrive

(Updated: )

CleanMyMac supports two ways to connect OneDrive:

  • Using the OneDrive web app — this lets you manage only those files that are stored online in your OneDrive.

  • Using the OneDrive desktop app — this lets you manage both files stored online and files synced locally to your Mac through the OneDrive desktop app.

For this, you need to download and install OneDrive for macOS, sign in to your Microsoft account, and ensure the app is running.

You can also use both connection types simultaneously for the same Microsoft account.

To connect your OneDrive to CleanMyMac, do the following:

  1. Open CleanMyMac and go to Cloud Cleanup.

  2. Add a OneDrive connection:

    • If you haven't added any cloud connections yet, click Connect OneDrive.

    • If you already have at least one cloud connection, click Add Another Cloud, then choose OneDrive.

  3. In the open dialog, choose how you want to connect your OneDrive:

    • If your files are synced locally to your Mac through the OneDrive desktop app, choose "OneDrive via desktop app", then click Continue.

    • If your files are stored online only, choose "OneDrive via web app", then click Continue.

    Tip

Whichever option you choose, you can turn on the other one later since CleanMyMac supports simultaneous local and remote connections for the same Microsoft account.

  4. Depending on the option you chose:

    • Wait for CleanMyMac to establish the connection, or

    • In the web browser that opens, sign in to your Microsoft account and grant CleanMyMac permissions to access and modify files in your OneDrive.

After the connection is established, you can also enable the second connection option. For this, click More (···) next to the OneDrive connection, then choose either Connect to Web or Connect to Desktop App.

All set. You can now scan your OneDrive storage, go through your files, and remove anything you don't need to keep it organized.
