GitHub integration

Leebry connects to your GitHub organization using a GitHub App. The integration indexes Markdown files from selected repositories and uses them to generate AI-powered answers in Leebry. Leebry has read-only access to the repositories you choose and never modifies repository content.

Before setting up the integration, make sure that:

• You have a GitHub account that belongs to the organization you want to connect.

• You have permission to install GitHub Apps for that organization.

  This typically requires organization owner or repository administrator privileges. If you're unsure, contact your GitHub organization owner or refer to the GitHub documentation.

• You have access to the Leebry admin dashboard.

1. In the Leebry admin dashboard, go to Integrations.

2. Click Connect next to GitHub.

   

   The Connect GitHub Integration page opens and explains how Leebry uses the integration to index Markdown files from your repositories.

3. Click Install App in the bottom-right corner.

   

   Leebry redirects you to GitHub to install the Leebry GitHub App.

4. On GitHub, choose the organization where you want to install the app.

   • If you belong to multiple organizations, select the appropriate one.

   • If you belong to only one organization, GitHub may select it automatically. Verify that it's the correct organization before continuing.

   Proceed to the next step to configure repository access.

5. Choose whether to install the app for "All repositories" or "Only selected repositories".

   We recommend selecting "All repositories". You'll still choose which repositories Leebry indexes, and this option lets you add repositories later without re-installing the app.

6. Click Install & Authorize.

   GitHub installs the app and redirects you back to Leebry.

   Note

   If you're not the organization owner, you may lack permission to install the app. The owner will receive the request to approve installation for you to proceed.

7. In Leebry, select the repositories you want to index, then click "Start indexing" in the bottom-right corner.

   Leebry can index both public and private repositories that the GitHub App can access. For the best results, start with repositories that contain documentation, such as knowledge bases, internal documentation, or runbooks.

   

   Indexing may take some time, depending on the number and size of the selected repositories.

After indexing is complete, the GitHub integration page in Leebry shows indexed repositories.

To confirm that the integration is working, ask Leebry a question that can be answered using your Markdown documentation, such as "How do I deploy service X?", and verify that the response is based on content from the indexed repositories.

You can change which repositories Leebry indexes at any time. To do this:

1. In the Leebry admin dashboard, go to Integrations.

2. Click GitHub, then click Edit.

   

3. Adjust your repository selection:

   • Select the repositories you want to index.
   • Deselect the repositories you no longer want to index.

4. Click Save Changes.

   Leebry starts indexing content from newly selected repositories. It also stops indexing content from repositories you deselected and no longer uses that content to generate AI responses.
