Confluence integration

(Updated: )

Leebry integrates with Confluence to index your wiki spaces and use them as cited sources for AI-powered answers. This guide explains how to connect Confluence, choose spaces to index, monitor status, re-index on demand, manage or delete the integration, and resolve common issues.

Overview

Once connected, Leebry indexes the Confluence spaces you select. Indexed content becomes available to search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) in Leebry, with citations to the original pages.

What you can do with the Confluence integration:

  • Connect your Confluence Cloud instance using an API token.

  • Select specific spaces to index (multiselect).

  • Monitor indexing progress and status per space.

  • Trigger manual re-indexing for select spaces.

  • Reconnect or delete the integration; remove individual spaces.

Prerequisites

  • Admin access to Leebry settings.

  • Confluence Cloud instance.

  • Atlassian API token generated from your Atlassian account security settings.

  • Email address associated with the Atlassian account that created the API token.

  • That Atlassian account must have read access to all spaces you plan to index.

Connect Confluence to Leebry

  1. In Leebry, go to Integration.

  2. Find the Confluence card and click Connect.

  3. In the connection dialog, provide:

    • Confluence Base URL — your instance URL, for example, https://yourcompany.atlassian.net

    • Email — email address of the Atlassian account tied to the API token

    • API Key — the token generated in Atlassian

  4. Click Continue.

    Leebry validates credentials and connectivity.

  5. Use multiselect checkboxes to choose the spaces to index.

    Note

The list of spaces reflects permissions of the connected Atlassian account. If a space is missing, ensure that account has read access in Confluence.

  6. Click Start indexing.

  7. On success, the integration shows an Active status with instance name.

Important

Enter only the base URL — no path such as /wiki. For example, use https://yourcompany.atlassian.net, not https://yourcompany.atlassian.net/wiki.

Monitor indexing status

Use the Indexing tab on the Confluence details page to review per-space status.

ColumnDescription
NameHuman-friendly name of the Confluence space
Last ModifiedWhen the space content was last updated in Confluence
Last IndexedWhen Leebry last completed indexing for the space
Status- In Progress
- Indexed
- Failed

Trigger a manual re-indexing

  1. Go to Confluence integration > Indexing tab.

  2. Locate the space and click the Actions button (three vertical dots), then choose Reindex.

  3. The status changes to In Progress and updates to Indexed when complete.

Reconnect or delete the integration

Reconnect

  1. From the Confluence integration card or details page, click Reconnect.

  2. Re-enter Base URL, Email, and API Token; submit to validate and restore the connection.

Important

Cooldown period: after disconnecting, you must wait 10 minutes before reconnecting.

Remove spaces or delete the integration

  • Remove individual spaces: Confluence details > Indexing Details > Delete on a specific space. Its indexed data is permanently removed and won't appear in answers or citations.

  • Delete entire integration: From the Confluence integration card, click Delete. All indexed Confluence data is permanently removed from Leebry.

General tips

  • Use a service account to ensure stable, long-term access and avoid issues when individuals change roles.

  • Keep API tokens secure. Store them safely and rotate periodically.

  • Check read access first. Most issues originate from insufficient Confluence permissions.

FAQ

Does Leebry modify any content in Confluence?

No. Leebry is read-only for Confluence content. It doesn't create, edit, or delete pages or spaces.

What content types are indexed?

Leebry indexes page content from selected spaces, including page text and structure accessible to the connected account.

What happens if a space is deleted in Confluence?

Indexed data persists in Leebry until the space is removed from the integration or a re-index runs. After removal or re-indexing, that data no longer appears in answers.
