With every new macOS released, Apple drops support for older macOS versions. As macOS software developers, we have to do the same.

As of today, Gemini 2 fully supports macOS 10.13 High Sierra and newer. We understand that this change may come as a letdown for you. You can still enjoy all Gemini 2 features and receive the latest software updates if your Mac runs any of these macOS versions:

  • Sonoma (14)
  • Ventura (13)
  • Monterey (12)
  • Big Sur (11)
  • Catalina (10.15)
  • Mojave (10.14)
  • High Sierra (10.13)

If your Mac runs older macOS versions than those listed above, read on.

Dropping support for macOS 10.10-10.12.

We no longer update and support Gemini 2 on OS X Yosemite 10.10, OS X El Capitan 10.11, and macOS Sierra 10.12. The app will still function on these macOS versions but won’t receive regular updates.

If you want to continue using Gemini 2, install the latest updates, and access new features, please update your Mac to macOS High Sierra or newer.

The reasons we are doing it

As new macOS see the world, Apple usually supports and maintains them for three years. Then, they shift their focus to the development of newer, more stable macOS versions. The older operating systems don’t receive regular bug fixes or significant security updates.

The efficiency, safety, and stability of our applications are our top priority. We can’t guarantee that our software will perform smoothly on macOS, which Apple no longer maintains. Dropping support for older versions of macOS will allow us to invest more time and resources into exciting new Gemini 2 features and updates.

What it means for you

You can continue using Gemini 2 on OS X Yosemite 10.10, OS X El Capitan 10.11, and macOS Sierra 10.12, but you won’t receive new features and updates. The application is secure and safe to use.

Your current plan stays valid and you can renew your subscription when it ends. You can rely on our Support Team in case of any questions regarding Gemini 2.

Other unsupported macOS versions

Earlier, Gemini 2 stopped supporting some other older macOS versions. You won’t be able to use Gemini 2 on Macs running OS X Mavericks 10.9 through Mac OS X Cheetah 10.0. To read more about macOS versions Gemini 2 no longer supports, please visit our Support Center.
