Turn background scanning on or off

While you can turn off background scanning, we recommend keeping it active for optimal safety. It uses minimal system resources and won't slow down your Mac.

1. In CleanMyMac Settings, go to the Protection tab.

2. Select or deselect the option to look for threats in the background.

   

If background scanning is off, you can also turn it back on directly from the CleanMyMac Menu. For this, click the Protection monitor to open the detailed view, then click Turn On in Background Scan.
