Multiple displays and desktops
(Updated: )This article is for reference only. Wallpaper Wizard 2 is discontinued and will be sunset on March 23, 2026.
No matter how many desktops or monitors you have, Wallpaper Wizard 2 manages them all. Just follow these steps to get your wallpapers rolling exactly as you want.
Change backgrounds on desktops
Roll one wallpaper on all desktops
This is the default behavior — you don't need to change anything if you want the same background everywhere. As you switch desktops, Wallpaper Wizard 2 instantly applies the current Roll image. If you set a permanent wallpaper, it'll stick on every desktop you open (if Wallpaper Wizard 2 still runs).
Change wallpaper on the current desktop only
On the Roll tab, click the gear button (
).Deselect "Set wallpapers on all desktops".
Once it's deselected, each desktop keeps its own background when the Roll advances — you'll only see the next image on the desktop you're using.
Set a permanent wallpaper for one desktop
On the Roll tab, click the gear button (
).Deselect "Set wallpapers on all desktops".
Stop automatic change of wallpapers by clicking Pause (
) on the Roll tab, or choosing Roll > Pause in the menu bar, or choosing Pause Roll in the Wallpaper Wizard 2 Menu.Open a picture you'd like to set as a wallpaper on the current display and click Set Desktop Picture (or Set to Display if you have multiple displays) at the bottom.
Manage wallpapers on multiple displays
Wallpaper Wizard 2 supports any number of monitors connected to your Mac. You'll see them all on the Roll tab and in the Wallpaper Wizard 2 Menu.
By default, Wallpaper Wizard 2 uses the current picture in the Roll as a wallpaper on all of your displays and continues changing backgrounds simultaneously. However, Wallpaper Wizard 2 also lets you choose a different background for each display or make pictures move from one display to another.
Roll different pictures on each display
On the Roll tab, click the gear button (
).Select "Different wallpaper for each".
Each display now shows its own picture from the Roll queue.
Roll pictures one by one across all displays
On the Roll tab, click the gear button (
).Select "Roll through all displays".
The Roll moves pictures from one display to the next in order.
Set a permanent wallpaper for a single display
Open a picture and click the number of a display at the bottom to set the wallpaper there.
That display will keep the chosen wallpaper — and the Roll pauses on every display until you play the Roll again.
