Only the customers who have already purchased a license can activate CleanMyMac 3 and access all of its features. If possible, we recommend upgrading to CleanMyMac X.

Why do we stop developing CleanMyMac 3?
Stability and security risks on old systems. Apple doesn't support its older operating systems. Without updates, these systems are vulnerable to stability and security risks. It is impossible to address all those risks because they are too many and can be very serious. As a result, we cannot guarantee that CleanMyMac Classic, which only works on old systems, always stays stable and safe.
Technical limitations. Some essential features in the new version of CleanMyMac, CleanMyMac X, rely on the technologies unavailable in the old macOS versions. This doesn’t allow us to add these features to CleanMyMac 3, which is designed for older systems only.
With such risks and limitations, we can’t make sure that our users, who we care about so much, get the best experience and quality — which has always been our priority. So, if possible, we recommend upgrading to CleanMyMac X.
Resources for developing new features and apps. By ceasing to issue updates and fixes for CleanMyMac 3, we can concentrate on making better and more useful products for you. These products are CleanMyMac X, the latest version in the CleanMyMac family, and other popular apps — Setapp, ClearVPN, Gemini 2, and Gemini Photos.
What it means for users that CleanMyMac 3 is no longer developed
You can continue using CleanMyMac 3
The final app version is fully functional, stable and safe. The system requirements for CleanMyMac 3 are the same:
- Mac operating systems 10.9-10.14
- An Intel-based processor (M1 or M2 are not supported)
- 62Mb of space on a hard drive
But please keep in mind the possible problems with stability and security on old operating systems. CleanMyMac 3 may work slowly or even quit unexpectedly, and we might be unable to help.
CleanMyMac 3 only supports the Mac operating systems 10.9-10.14
In particular, CleanMyMac 3 works on these systems:
- OS X 10.9 Mavericks
- OS X 10.10 Yosemite
- OS X 10.11 El Capitan
- macOS 10.12 Sierra
- macOS 10.13 High Sierra
- macOS 10.14 Mojave
The app will not open on any other system.
The final version of CleanMyMac 3 is 3.11.1
MacPaw no longer develops any new features, compatibility patches, bug fixes, or improvements for this version of CleanMyMac 3. We may still release occasional updates to fix critical problems related to the functionality or security of the app. Nevertheless, these releases will not be regular.

You can only activate the app if you’ve purchased a license before. The non-activated version of CleanMyMac 3 has the same limitations as in a free trial.
