About the Menu
(Updated: )Once CleanMyMac completes its tasks and you close it, the Menu app stays active in the status bar for ongoing support and updates. The Menu icon appears in the Apple menu bar the first time you start CleanMyMac. By clicking this icon, you can access a range of useful features and stay informed about critical changes to your Mac.
The Menu helps extend the life of your Mac by offering several detailed monitors that provide real-time information on various system aspects. These monitors include updates on Mac health, protection status, disk and storage space, memory (RAM), battery life, and processor (CPU) performance. Additionally, it tracks network connections and connected devices. Clicking each monitor gives you a detailed view of your system status, helping you stay on top of Mac performance and health.
Monitor Mac health
The Health monitor provides an overall assessment of your Mac condition by evaluating several key factors, including disk space, potential threats, battery health, system load, and more. The health score ranges from “Excellent” to “Critical”, reflecting the current state of your Mac.
Get real-time protection
The Protection monitor provides an overview of your Mac security, offering quick insights on how to safeguard your computer from malware. It displays the current status of protection, including real-time threats, ongoing malware monitoring, background scans, and the malware database status.
Explore storage details
The Storage monitor helps keep track of available storage, disk health and temperature on your Mac. It provides details about the startup disk, including available space, types of stored data, and the disk's vital signs, like health and temperature. You can also see the size of your trash and clean it out directly if needed. Note that CleanMyMac monitors only the disk or disk partition containing the operating system.
Free up and optimize memory
The Memory monitor provides insights into memory usage on your Mac, helping you understand how it's allocated and whether any action is needed. It shows available memory, with an option to free some up instantly. Memory allocation details are shown between macOS, running apps, and what remains available for tasks. The monitor also displays memory pressure, indicating how stressed RAM is, the swap file size, and which apps are consuming the most memory.
See battery details
The Battery monitor will let you know if your Mac is charging or not and how much time is left till the battery discharges. Click the Battery monitor for more details, like health, temperature, charging cycles, and more.
Monitor CPU performance
The CPU monitor allows tracking processor performance on your Mac and identifying unusual activity. It shows real-time CPU usage, system uptime, and CPU temperature. You can also see which apps are consuming the most CPU resources, helping pinpoint any performance issues or spikes in activity.
View network connection details
The Network monitor provides a view of network status on your Mac. It displays the current network connection status, including real-time upload and download speeds. You can also use this monitor to test connection speed, helping assess internet performance and troubleshoot network issues.
Track and manage connected devices
The Connected Devices monitor offers an immediate overview of devices connected to your Mac, whether through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cable. These include iPhones, iPads, external drives, and other accessories like headphones, mice, and keyboards. It helps keep track of what's linked to your Mac and manage connections effectively.
Receive useful recommendations
While the Menu is active, it displays tips and reminders. In particular, the Menu:
Recommends features not yet used in CleanMyMac
Offers to completely uninstall an app when dragged to the Trash
Sends weekly cleanup reminders
Reminds about overfilled Trash and cluttered drives, including external ones
Warns when your Mac is low on memory
Helps quit hung apps
