Mac health

(Updated: )

To give you a clear understanding of your Mac overall well-being, CleanMyMac provides a comprehensive assessment of its condition. For this, CleanMyMac evaluates a number of factors that impact performance, security, and cleanliness, including disk and battery health, potential threats, system load, and other hardware and system metrics. Based on this evaluation, CleanMyMac calculates a health score for your Mac.

  • Excellent means that your Mac is doing great, though regular maintenance is recommended to keep it that way.

  • Good shows that your Mac is in good shape, but some maintenance can help it perform even better.

  • Fair indicates that your Mac is functioning well, but maintenance is advised to prevent future performance degradation.

  • Requires Attention implies that your Mac isn't performing optimally and maintenance is necessary to restore its condition.

  • Critical suggests that immediate action is required to bring your Mac back to normal operation.

Health factors

CleanMyMac evaluates several key factors when determining your Mac health score:

  • Detected malware
  • Critical disk health
  • Critical battery health
  • Low disk space
  • Pending app updates
  • Unused apps
  • Overfilled Trash
  • Long Mac uptime

Additionally, CleanMyMac considers if you've granted Full Disk Access, whether you've run Smart Care or a deep malware scan recently, if the Menu is turned off, if the real-time malware monitoring is turned off, and whether you haven't run its modules for a long time.
