Connect Google Drive
(Updated: )CleanMyMac supports two ways to connect your Google Drive:
Using the Google Drive web app — this lets you manage only those files that are stored online in your Google Drive.
Using the Google Drive desktop app — this lets you manage both files stored online and files synced locally to your Mac through the Google Drive desktop app.
For this, you need to download and install the Google Drive desktop app, sign in to your Google account, and make sure the app is running.
You can also use both connection types at the same time for the same Google account.
You can connect as many Google accounts using the web app as you want, but if you connect locally synced accounts using the desktop app, their number is limited by how many can sync simultaneously through the app.
To connect your Google Drive to CleanMyMac, follow these steps:
Open CleanMyMac and go to Cloud Cleanup.
Add a Google Drive connection:
If you haven't added any cloud connections yet, click Connect Google Drive.
If you already have at least one cloud connection, click Add Another Cloud, then choose Google Drive.
In the open dialog, choose how you want to connect your Google Drive:
If your files are synced locally to your Mac through the Google Drive desktop app, choose "Google Drive via desktop app", then click Continue.
If your files are stored online only, choose "Google Drive via web app", then click Continue.
TipWhichever option you choose, you can turn on the other one later since CleanMyMac supports simultaneous local and remote connections for the same Google account.
Depending on the option you chose:
Wait for CleanMyMac to establish the connection, or
In the web browser that opens, sign in to your Google account and grant CleanMyMac permissions to access and modify files in your Google Drive.
After the connection is established, you can also enable the second connection option. To do this, click More (···) next to the Google Drive connection, then choose either Connect to Web or Connect to Desktop App.
You're all set. You can now scan your Google Drive storage, explore its contents, and clean up unnecessary files to keep it clean and organized.
