Revoke plan access
(Updated: )This article applies only to CleanMyMac purchased from the MacPaw Store.
As the license owner, you decide who can use your CleanMyMac plan. If you need someone to stop using your plan, you can either revoke their device slot in your MacPaw Account or replace their device when activating CleanMyMac on a new Mac.
Revoke a device slot
Revoking a device slot means the person you shared it with will no longer be able to activate or use CleanMyMac under your plan using that slot.
For example:
If you share one device slot with someone and then revoke it, they lose access to CleanMyMac under your plan.
If you share multiple device slots with someone and then revoke one of them, they can still use CleanMyMac under your plan since they have other slots available to them.
Once revoked, the slot becomes available again—you can share it with someone else or use it yourself.
To revoke a device slot:
Sign in to your MacPaw Account.
Choose CleanMyMac, then click Manage Devices.
In the list of device slots, find the one to revoke (regardless of whether its status is Active or Pending), click More (
), then choose Remove From Plan and confirm your choice.
NoteIf you shared multiple device slots with one person, revoke all their devices to completely remove their access to your CleanMyMac plan.
That's it! The person will receive an email notification and won't be able to use CleanMyMac under your plan—unless you've shared other device slots with them.

Replace a device
Replacing a device works the same as revoking a slot, except the slot is immediately taken by a new device instead of becoming empty.
You can replace a device only if all slots under your CleanMyMac plan are currently occupied (with either Active or Pending status).
To replace a device:
Open CleanMyMac on another Mac.
Activate the app using your—the plan owner's—MacPaw Account credentials.
Select the device you want to replace, then click Next.
If you shared multiple device slots with one person, to completely revoke their plan access, repeat these steps on different Mac computers, or revoke their slots in your MacPaw Account, which is easier and quicker.
That's it! The device slot now belongs to your current Mac. (To free the slot, you need to remove the device.) The person who previously used the slot will lose access and get a message in CleanMyMac that their copy has been deactivated. Note that they won't receive an email or other notification.
