Revoke device licenses

(Updated: )

CleanMyMac Business lets you revoke device licenses assigned to members in your Organization. This helps you optimize the use of available licenses by re-assigning them to other members or transferring them to other devices. As the Owner or an Admin, you can revoke licenses either by member or by device.

Revoke licenses by member

To review and revoke device licenses from a specific member:

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, go to Users and Licenses.

  2. Find the member from whom you want to revoke a license and click the member entry.

    Tip

To spot unused (available) licenses, check the relationship between used (taken) and assigned licenses in the Licenses column.

Device licenses in the member list
    The member details page opens.

  3. In the User Licenses section, find the license you want to revoke, and click Revoke License next to it.

    Note

If the license is in use (taken), you must first "free" it. To do this, in the Taken section, click Remove Device next to the device you want to unlink the license from. Once the license is free, you can click Revoke License to unassign it from the member.

Revoke licenses by device

To unlink and revoke a license from a specific device:

  1. In the Admin Dashboard, go to Devices.

  2. Find the device you want to unlink the license from and click the device entry.

    The device information page opens.

  3. Go to the Info tab, then click Manage License.

    The member details page opens.

  4. In the User Licenses section, find the device and click Remove Device to unlink the license.

  5. Once the license is unlinked, it becomes free (available), so you can click Revoke License to unassign it from the member.
