Pause, resume, or close tabs
(Updated: )Tabs you don't need right now still use Mac memory and processor power. Closing them frees up resources, but you lose the pages you may need later.
Browser Care lets you pause tabs to free up resources and keep them in Chrome, or close the ones you no longer need.
Pause tabs
Pausing a tab frees up memory and processor power without closing the tab.
When you resume a paused tab, changes you haven't saved on the page, such as text you entered in a form, can be lost. Save your work before you pause a tab.

Closing a tab removes it from Chrome. To keep a tab but free up the resources it uses, pause it instead.
