Configure extra scanning options
(Updated: )CleanMyMac can scan additional locations and file types when searching for malware on your Mac. You can choose which of these locations are included in malware scans.
To configure additional scan targets:
Open CleanMyMac, go to the Protection module, then click Configure Scan.
Alternatively, open CleanMyMac and either choose CleanMyMac > Settings from the menu bar or press Command-Comma (⌘-,).
On the Protection tab, select the additional locations and file types you want CleanMyMac to include in malware scans.
Disk images (DMG files) — This option affects not only malware scans and threat removal but also real-time monitoring, background scanning, and Smart Care.
Email attachments — Scan email attachments downloaded to your Mac by email apps such as Mail. This option requires Full Disk Access.
Archives — Scan supported archive formats, including ZIP, RAR, and PKG files.
USB drives — Scan supported non-encrypted external drives that use file systems compatible with macOS.
iCloud files — Scan downloaded iCloud files.
