Check available disk space

(Updated: )

Open the CleanMyMac Menu and find the disk monitor that displays your startup disk name, such as Macintosh HD.

Note

CleanMyMac monitors only the disk or partition where macOS is installed.

The monitor shows how much storage space is currently available. Click the disk monitor to view additional details.

For optimal performance, macOS typically requires at least 10–15% of available disk space. If available space falls below this level, your Mac may become slower and less responsive, and some system operations may not work as expected.

The disk monitor in the CleanMyMac Menu turns yellow when available space drops below 10%. If this happens, click Free Up in the disk monitor to remove unnecessary files using Smart Care.

Alternatively, you can review and remove files manually using these CleanMyMac features:

CleanMyMac can also notify you when available disk space becomes critically low. You can configure or turn off this notification in CleanMyMac Settings.
