Remove spam

Spam emails — whether marked automatically by your email client or manually by you — accumulate over time and take up space in your mailbox. The Spam category in Email Cleanup collects them in one place so you can clear them out in a few clicks.

1. In CleanMyMac, click My Tools in the sidebar.

2. In Email Cleanup, click the disclosure arrow, pick the email account to scan, then click Scan.

   If you haven't connected your email account yet, learn how to do it.

   

   Scanning may take a moment depending on your mailbox size.

3. If emails are ready to review before the scan finishes, CleanMyMac gives you the option to start early — click Review Now, or wait.

   

   Once complete, CleanMyMac opens the Email Cleanup Manager.

4. Choose the Spam category on the left, browse and select emails you want to remove, then click "Move to Trash" to instantly move the selected emails to your mailbox trash.

   

5. In the dialog that appears, click Continue to confirm the action.

6. Review the results summary.

   • To explore the details, click View Log.

   • To return to the Email Cleanup Manager and continue removing spam, click Manage More Emails.

   • To return to My Tools, click Done.

     Note

     You can also disconnect your email account from here — select the checkbox before clicking Done.
