Set up Browser Care

(Updated: )

Browser Care is a Chrome extension, so you add it to Chrome first. It also runs on CleanMyMac, so it needs to connect to the app before it starts working.

Before you start, make sure your Mac meets the requirements.

Install Browser Care

You can start installing Browser Care from CleanMyMac or from a dedicated Browser Care webpage. Either way, you add the extension to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store.

If you install Browser Care from CleanMyMac, it starts working right away.

Note

The Browser Care tile appears in My Tools only if Google Chrome is installed on your Mac.

  2. In the Browser Care tile, click Learn More.

A dialog opens with a short description of the extension and how it helps you.

Connect Browser Care to CleanMyMac

If you install Browser Care from CleanMyMac, it connects automatically. If you install it from a dedicated Browser Care webpage or directly from the Chrome Web Store, the first time you open it, Browser Care checks for CleanMyMac on your Mac. Depending on the result, it shows one of the following screens:

  • Browser Care needs CleanMyMac. Is CleanMyMac installed… — Browser Care can't find CleanMyMac on your Mac. This happens if you don't have CleanMyMac installed or CleanMyMac background items are off.

Install CleanMyMac and check if its background items are allowed.

  • Couldn't connect to CleanMyMac — Browser Care still can't detect CleanMyMac or can't connect to it. This happens if you click It's Installed on the previous screen, but CleanMyMac isn't installed or its background items aren't allowed.

Install CleanMyMac or check if its background items are allowed.

  • Browser Care needs CleanMyMac. Activate CleanMyMac… — CleanMyMac is installed but not activated.

Click Activate CleanMyMac, then follow the activation steps.

Once Browser Care connects to CleanMyMac, you can start managing your tabs.
