About Browser Care
(Updated: )Open browser tabs pile up fast. Pages you forgot about keep running in the background and use Mac resources — memory and processor power — which slows everything down. At the same time, a crowded tab bar makes it hard to find the page you need, and you lose focus while hunting for it. Worse, it's hard to tell which tabs are actually causing the slowdown.
Browser Care is a Chrome extension that works together with CleanMyMac to bring your tabs under control. It shows which tabs use the most Mac resources, and lets you close the ones you don't need and pause the ones you can't close yet. You manage everything from the Chrome toolbar, so you can keep your Mac fast and your tabs organized.
To get started, install Browser Care and connect it to CleanMyMac.
What you can do with Browser Care
Monitor Chrome resource usage. Browser Care shows how much memory and processor power Chrome uses and which tabs use the most, so you can spot the heaviest ones at a glance.
Review and organize all open tabs. Browse every tab from all windows of your current Chrome profile in one list. Search for a tab, and sort the list by resource usage or by how long tabs have been open, or group tabs by domain or window.
Pause, resume, or close tabs. Pause tabs you don't need right now to free up memory and processor power, resume them whenever you want, or close the ones you no longer need.
Close duplicate tabs. Browser Care finds tabs with the same address across all windows of your current Chrome profile and closes the extra copies. When you close duplicates in bulk, Browser Care keeps the most recently opened copy of each page.
Close tabs that have been open too long. Browser Care collects tabs that stayed open longer than a time limit you choose — six hours, one day, three days, or a custom number of days — so you can close them in one click.
Requirements
To use Browser Care, you need:
macOS 12 or later.
Google Chrome 150.0.7871.125 or later.
CleanMyMac 5.7.2 or later, installed and activated on your Mac.
If you use a trial version of CleanMyMac, Browser Care works during the trial. After the trial ends, it stays locked until you activate CleanMyMac.
CleanMyMac background items allowed in macOS, so Health Monitor can run.
If you use the App Store edition of CleanMyMac, you need the CleanMyMac Menu turned on and running at all times.
Limitations
Browser Care works only in Google Chrome.
Browser Care works within one Chrome profile. If you use several profiles, for example for work and personal accounts, it shows only the tabs and windows of the profile you're using.
By default, Browser Care doesn't work in Incognito windows. To use it there, turn on "Allow in Incognito" for Browser Care in the Chrome extension settings.
