Why is uninstalling apps better than trashing them?

When you simply drag apps to the Trash, you remove only the .app file, while many applications generate service data that is stored in other places too. CleanMyMac 3 can find and remove these files to free up more space on your hard drive.

To make things easier, we created a monitor that reminds you about the possibility of complete uninstallation of apps. In particular, every time you move an app to the Trash folder, CleanMyMac 3 Menu offers you to uninstall the app with all related files.

If you don't get a corresponding notification, make sure CleanMyMac 3 Menu is running and check if the feature is enabled by doing this:

  1. Open CleanMyMac 3 Menu and click on the gear icon in its the lower right corner.
  2. Choose the Preferences option.
  3. On the CleanMyMac 3 Menu tab, select the "Offer to correctly uninstall applications" checkbox.

Now, CleanMyMac 3 will always prompt you correct uninstallation of an app when you move it to the Trash.
